The recent revelation surrounding the cause of Lisa Marie Presley’s death has shed light on a medical condition known as small bowel obstruction. Lisa Marie Presley tragically passed away in January at a hospital in the L.A. area after experiencing cardiac arrest.

According to information obtained from the L.A. County Coroner and an L.A. Medical Examiner document obtained by TMZ, Lisa Marie Presley’s cause of death was sequela of small bowel obstruction.

What is Small bowel obstruction?

Small bowel obstruction occurs when there is a blockage in the small intestine, leading to potentially life-threatening complications.

Small bowel obstructions can be caused by various factors, including scar tissue, hernias, or cancer. In the United States, a significant number of obstructions occur as a result of previous surgeries.

During surgical procedures involving the bowel, bands of scar tissue, called adhesions, can form. The more surgeries a person has involving the bowel, the higher the likelihood of developing adhesions. If the bowel becomes trapped in these adhesions, it can result in a small bowel obstruction.

In severe cases, the blood supply to the affected area may be compromised, leading to tissue death and posing a significant risk to the patient’s life.

However, the information obtained from the L.A. County Coroner and an L.A. Medical Examiner document obtained by TMZ is not the full report. Additional toxicology results are expected to be included in the final report.

In addition to the small bowel obstruction, it has been reported that Lisa Marie was taking weight loss medication and had recently undergone plastic surgery.

Following Lisa Marie’s passing, her family has experienced significant upheaval. A dispute over Lisa Marie’s trust arose between her mother, Priscilla, and her daughter, Riley Keough. However, the matter has since been settled, with Lisa Marie’s estate reportedly paying an undisclosed sum of money to Priscilla to resolve the disagreement, reportedly in the millions.

Outside the courtroom, Priscilla’s attorney announced the settlement, expressing satisfaction with the outcome and stating that both families are happy and excited for the future.
