Benjamin Keough was the son of Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley, who died following a cardiac arrest on Thursday, January 12, 2023. TMZ reported that Presley suffered a cardiac arrest at her home in Calabassas, California, and was rushed to the hospital where she later died. The singer-songwriter was 54.

TMZ reported that Presley’s ex-husband Danny Keough, with whom she lived in the final days of her life, performed CPR on her before the Emergency Medical Team (EMT) arrived on the scene.

The EMT had to administer epinephrine to regain her pulse. 

A few hours later, Presley was reported dead at the hospital. 

Who was Benjamin Keough?

Benjamin Storm Presley Keough was born on October 21, 1992, in Tampa, Florida. He was the second child of Lisa Marie Presley and Danny Keough and the brother of actor Riley Keough. 

Keough followed her grandfather Elvis Presley’s footsteps to make a living out of singing. In 2009, he was offered a $5 million contract by Universal Studios to produce five records. 

However, he struggled with addiction and depression throughout his life, and as a result, none of the songs that he was supposed to produce ever saw the light of day.

He committed suicide on July 12, 2020, by shooting himself at his girlfriend Diana Pinto’s party. He was 27 years old then. 

Lisa Marie Presley was very close to Benjamin and she struggle to cope with the grief of his death. 

In August 2022, she penned an essay on her struggles to deal with the death of Benjamin. 

‘I can understand why people may want to avoid you once a terrible tragedy has struck.” she wrote. “Especially a parent losing their child because it is truly your worst nightmare.”
