Lil Tay has died, her family has confirmed on her official Instagram page.

The influencer and rapper, whose real name was Claire Hope, rose to fame in 2018.

Her family shared her death in a statement on Wednesday, adding that her brother also died.

“We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain,” they wrote. “This outcome was entirely unexpected, and has left us all in shock.”

Lil Tay is remembered for her viral Instagram clips where she claimed to be “the youngest flexer of the century.”

The internet personality is survived by her mother Angela and her father Christopher.

Who are Lil Tay’s parents?

Claire Hope, the youngest child of Angela Tian and Christopher J. Hope, was better known online as Lil Tay.

Angie worked as a real estate agent and Chris was a lawyer when Tay initially became popularity.

The late influencer was born and reared in Vancouver, but when she was nine years old, she moved to Los Angeles with her mother.

Tay has faced criticism from individuals who believe her family is abusing her ever since she became popular on social media.

Additionally, there were rumours that Tay’s problematic online persona was the reason Angie lost her real estate employment at Pacific Evergreen Realty.

Angie resigned, according to Pacific Evergreen Realty, before they had an opportunity to fire her.

She said, “I didn’t get fired,” to Juju Chang during her Good Morning America interview.

“For my daughter’s career and promising future, I quit.”

“I don’t want to deal with all these questions anymore. Can you please help out my daughter’s career more?”

“All the haters, they want to get attention from her because right now, she’s famous, and she has a passion.

“Every parent needs to worry about their own child. I’ll worry about my child.”

“She’s a star now, and wherever she is, I will be beside her.”
