Rupert Murdoch, Australian-American business magnate is set to tie the knot for the fifth time. He has proposed to Ann Lesley Smith and will be marrying her over the summer. Murdoch first made the announcement in an interview with columnist Cindy Adams in the New York Post.

Murdoch, 92, has gifted Ann Lesley Smith a ring worth £2 million, reported DailyMail. He selected the ring himself and presented it to Smith on March 17. DailyMail’s pictures of Smith wearing the ring are going viral on the internet.

Who is Ann Lesley Smith?

Ann Lesley Smith is an American journalist. She started her career as a dentist and has also been a model and a singer.

She was born in 1956 or 1957 and grew up in Petaluma, California. In May 1975, she graduated from Petaluma High School. She also attended Idaho State University.

Ann Lesley worked as a model, radio journalist, singer, and songwriter in San Francisco. Lesley ran a radio show on KFIV titled Ann Lesley live.

At 28 years of age, Ann Lesley married wealthy attorney John B Huntington, who was 47. He was a member of one of California’s most influential families that pioneered the railroad in the country. However, the emotionally abusive relationship ended in a divorce.

Her second marriage was to country music star Chester Smith. She was married to Smith until his death in 2008 from a heart attack. Chester Smith was also a radio and television executive.

After Chester Smith’s death, Ann Lesley became a police chaplain for the San Francisco Police Department.

Murdoch and Ann Lesley Smith first met at a party Murdoch hosted at his vineyard Moraga in Bel Air, California, a few years ago. Smith calls the relationship “a gift from God”.
