Bob Mcgrath, actor, singer, children’s book author, and the founding cast member of the iconic Sesame Streets has passed away.

His family made the announcement, writing on Facebook, “Our father Bob McGrath passed away today. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.”

Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization that produces educational children’s programs took to Twitter to post a tribute to the late actor. “Sesame Workshop mourns the passing of Bob McGrath, a beloved member of the Sesame Street family for over 50 years,” they wrote. 

The late actor is survived by his wife Ann Logan Sperry and their five children. 

Who is Ann Logan Sperry?

Sperry, who was born in 1933, was once a preschool teacher. She is currently 89 years old. Sperry met her future husband Mcgrath when he was finishing his master of music degree in Manhattan School of Music. They met in New York City, most likely in the year 1957 or 1958. 

The two married in the year 1958, and have been together since then, until the passing away of Mcgrath on December 4, 2022. 

Mcgrath and Sperry were married for 64 years, as of 2022, and Sperry was one year older than her husband, according to The New York Times.

The couple, through their marriage, have five children- Liam McGrath, Robert McGrath, Alison McGrath Osder, Lily McGrath and Cathlin McGrath. They have eight grandchildren. 

Mcgrath and Sperry lived in New Jersey for five years until the passing away of Mcgrath. They were the residents of, what New Jersey referes to as “handsome ranch house” in Norwood. They shifted into it in 2017, before which they were the residents of Teaneck. 

Bob Mcgrath lived in Bergen County, New Jersey for 59 years.
