Bevin Prince, a former cast member of One Tree Hill, is speaking out in public for the first time since her husband, William Friend, was killed by lightning in July.
On Friday, December 3, the 40-year-old participated in an edition of the podcast 1on1 With Jon Evans and described the occurrence as “an absolute living nightmare.”

“It was like any other day that we’d done a million times,” she told Evans. “The storm was far away, we’re on the boat, everything’s fine. And then in an instant, everything has changed. There’s no normal, and there’s no playbook for it.”
“Mike, well if we get struck by lightning, this is a good place to be,” Friend said to her father as she lit a cigar just before Prince was struck, according to Prince. Friend was the CEO of the digital media business Bisnow at the time.

“Instantly the people that were on the boat next to us, a nurse, an ex-military and a bounty hunter, responded so fast,” she added. “Then, the police boat happened to be driving by right at that moment, just happened to be there. So, they were able to move him to the police boat. In my mind, there was absolutely nothing that could have been done. And I have to accept that this is larger than me and my understanding at this time.”
Who is Bevin Prince?
Bevin Anne Prince, an American actor, and fitness teacher born in 1982 is best known for playing Bevin Mirskey on the popular CW television series One Tree Hill.
Her family relocated to Cary after Prince was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was a cheerleader for a team that placed first in the Wake County Cheerleading Contest while she was a student at Martin Middle School.

She participated in musical theatre as a student at Raleigh, North Carolina’s Saint Mary’s School, a private all-girl Episcopal prep school. Prince enrolled at North Carolina State University after high school in 2000 before transferring to the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She graduated from the new cinema studies department at UNC Wilmington in the first class while there, where she was a member of the Seahawk Dance Team from 2002 to 2003.
Prince obtained an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design and attended the New York Film Academy to prepare for more challenging jobs.

Prince married Will Friend in Turks and Caicos in May 2016. Friend was born and reared in England before relocating to the US at the age of fifteen. He received his degree from Southern Methodist University and joined Bisnow Media in 2015 as CEO.
Prince co-signed a letter of support that was printed in Variety in 2017 after the former showrunner of One Tree Hill, Mark Schwahn, was accused of sexual harassment by a female staff writer.

Prince and Friend made the decision to leave New York City and go to Wilmington, North Carolina after the COVID-19 epidemic broke out in order to be nearer to her family. A week before his 34th birthday, on July 3, 2022, Friend was sailing with friends when he was struck by lightning on Masonboro Island. He later passed away from his injuries.
