Bollywood actor Bipasha Basu and her husband Karan Singh Grover have welcomed their first child together. Bipasha Basu gave birth to a baby girl after six years of their marriage. The couple made the momentous announcement about their pregnancy on social media in August. Since then, the actress has been chronicling her pregnancy journey on Instagram with adorable photos and videos.

The couple also hosted a baby shower few weeks ago where her family and close friends were seen attending the party. The couple also posted the baby shower pictures on their respective social media profiles. The duo posed for photos in front of a wall that was decorated with floral arrangements and balloons. The wall read, “A little monkey is on the way!”

Who is Bipasha Basu?

Bipasha Basu was born on January 7, 1969 in New Delhi. Her father Hirak Basu is a civil engineer, and her mother Mamta Basu is a homemaker. Bipasha Basu has an elder sister Bidisha and an younger sister Vijayeta Basu.

Bipasha was raised in Delhi till the age of eight and she along with her family moved to Kolkata where she attended Bhavan’s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir school. Bipasha Basu was the head girl of her school and was affectionately known as “Lady Goonda” because of her strong personality. 

Bipasha Basu’s career 

Bipasha Basu started her modelling career in 1996 when she was first spotted at a hotel in Kolkata by the model Mehr Jesia. In the same year, she competed in and won the Ford-organized Godrej Cinthol Supermodel Contest, representing India at the Ford Models Supermodel of the World competition in Miami.

She subsequently starred in the Calida commercial with her ex-boyfriend Dino Morea, which sparked controversy because it showed them in a sensual pose. After appearing on multiple magazine covers, Basu pursued a career in modeling through her late teens and into her early twenties before switching to acting.

She made her Bollywood debut with Abhishek Bachchan in J.P Dutta’s film Aakhari Mughal. However, the film did not release at the box office. Bipasha finally made her acting debut in 2001, co-starring with Akshay Kumar in Vijay Galani’s Ajnabee. It had a mediocre box office performance and received negative reviews, but Bipasha’s portrayal of a villain earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

Since then, there was no looking back for her. She has acted in several films like No Entry, Corporate, Dhoom 2, Barsaat and many more. She had also appeared in Sonu Nigam‘s official music album Kismat.  Bipasha has also featured in Rituparno Ghosh’s Bengali film, Shob Charitro Kalponik.   

In The Times of India’s list of the 50 most attractive women, Bipasha Basu was placed eighth in 2011, thirteenth in 2012, and seventh in 2013. In 2005 and 2007, the UK publication Eastern Eye rated her the “Sexiest Woman in Asia.”

She has also received many awards including the IIFA Awards, Filmfare Awards, GIFA Critics Best Award, Zee Cine Award and many more. 

Bipasha Basu married Karan Singh Grover on April 30, 2016.
