A man identified as Carl Westcott claimed that he sold his house to Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom under the influence of potent drugs.

According to court documents, Westcott claims the contract for the sale of his property, which was signed on July 14, 2020, occurred at a time when his mental condition prevented him from understanding the true nature and possible implications of the deal.

Who is Carl Westcott?

Carl Westcott is 83 years old. As per media reports, he served in the US Army as a 101st Airborne service member.

In August 2020, Carl Westcott filed a complaint in court protesting the sale of his Santa Barbara, California home to music star Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom. Westcott’s claim was based on the idea that he was “unsound of mind” as a result of the many narcotics prescribed for his suffering.

Although Bernie Gudvi, the business manager of Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, is the main defendant in the complaint, they are not specifically named as parties. Throughout the sale of Westcott’s house, Gudvi represented the couple.

Carl Westcott claimed that his cognitive abilities had been significantly diminished due to his advanced age, damaged health brought on by Huntington’s disease (a deadly neurological disorder), and the considerable effects of a major surgery performed just days before the proposed contract. In his opinion, he was no longer capable of giving willing, wise, and sensible consent to the sale of his property to Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.

Westcott said that his mental clarity began to return after the effects of the post-surgery opiates had worn off about a week after the deal was signed on July 22, 2020. He responded by writing a letter expressing his worries to the real estate company in charge of marketing the home.
