American singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile won the 2023 Grammy award for Best Rock Song on Sunday. The track Broken Horses took home the award over other songs from Ozzy Osbourne (Patient Number), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Black Summer), Turnstile (Blackout), and the War on Drugs (Harmonia’s Dream). Broken Horses appears on In These Silent Days, Carlile’s seventh studio album.

Who is Catherine Shepherd, singer Brandi Carlile’s wife?
Brandi Carlile has been married to Catherine Shepherd since 2012 and the couple shares two children. Carlile, who is also a social activist, met Shepherd over the phone in 2009 when the latter was working for singer Paul McCartney’s charity. They finally met in person in 2010. They tied the knot in 2012 after dating for two years. They have two daughters – Evangeline Ruth and Elijah.
Catherine Shepherd was born in 1975. She is the daughter of actor Jack Shepherd, who is also a playwright, theatre director, and jazz musician. She attended James Allen’s Girls School. Following, her father’s footsteps, Shepherd tried her hand at acting. She eventually became quite successful as a charity organizer.

Shepherd is originally from the United Kingdom and coordinated McCartney’s charity work for 10 years. During that time, she started working on a project that involved Brandi’s charity work. She first met Carlili over the phone in 2009 when she reached out to donate some Beatles memorabilia to the singer’s Fight the Fear campaign.

When the two finally met in person after talking on the phone for more than a year, Brandi was pleasantly surprised to find out that Catherine was her peer. “It was shocking, to say the least,” she said, reported People. “Every time I talked to her over the phone, I thought I was talking to somebody who was like 65 years old. I don’t know why. I think because of her wisdom and her demeanor. Or maybe I thought she was Paul’s age or something. So we met backstage in New York, and we were both like 27,” she said.

In May 2012, Carlili and Shepherd stepped out together for the first time publicly at the 2012 Donor Of The Day Celebration at The Whitney Museum of American Art in NYC.
The couple welcomed their first daughter, Evangeline, in 2014, followed by their second, Elijah, in 2018.
