Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will face charges of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of photographer Halyna Hutchins alongside Alec Baldwin.

The allegations were revealed in a written statement released today by Rust Special Prosecutor Andrea Reeb and New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies.

If found guilty, Gutierrez-Reed and Baldwin may each spend up to 18 months behind bars. The Assistant Director, Dave Halls, pleaded guilty to the allegation of careless use of a deadly weapon.

Who is Hannah Gutierrez-Reed?

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is an armorer born in the 1998. She is the daughter of Thell Reed, notable long-time film industry armorer

She was the lead armorer on the Rust (upcoming American film) set. She was designated as the armorer in charge of the guns on the set.

The gun used in the fatal shooting was handed to Baldwin loaded with a live round for Rust which killed the cinematographer.

On October 21, 2021, Hutchins died shortly after being injured during rehearsals for the Western Rust at a ranch on the outskirts of Santa Fe. Baldwin was pointing a gun at Hutchins when it went off, killing her and injuring the director, Joel Souza.

Gutierrez Reed stated during investigations that while working on Rust, she felt pulled in two directions. She was in charge of guns and gun safety as an armorer, but she was also a key props assistant. She claimed that after the first week, a production manager chastised her for focusing too much on her armorer role and advised her to spend more time with the film’s props.

Reed is currently living in a two-bedroom home near the Colorado River in Bullhead, Arizona, according to Fox.
