Van der Pol initially gained fame in 2003 for her role in the Raven-Symoné-led sitcom, ‘That’s So Raven,’ where she played Raven Baxter’s best friend, Chelsea Grayson. In 2017, she returned for the spin-off series, ‘Raven’s Home,’ where she crossed paths with Wilson.
In the show, the 39-year-old actress and her soon-to-be husband portray a divorced couple sharing a son named Levi. The storyline involves Chelsea reuniting with her ex-husband, Garrett Grayson, who served time for financial fraud. Raven becomes her confidante as she navigates Garrett’s return, keeping Levi in the dark about his father’s criminal past.
Following the fourth season, van der Pol made only a brief appearance in the fifth season of ‘Raven’s Home.’ In a TikTok video shared in August 2023, she hinted that leaving the show might not have been her decision, playfully referencing questions about her departure.
In September, van der Pol shared another TikTok, suggesting that a signed nondisclosure agreement (NDA) prevented her from elaborating further on her exit from the series.

Earlier in April, during an interview on the ‘Vulnerable Podcast’ with fellow Disney star Christy Carlson Romano, van der Pol discussed alleged racism, expressing concerns about Raven not being deemed marketable to Disney’s audience.
