Manipuri model-actor Lin Laishram lamented the lack of representation of North Eastern culture in Bollywood. She also questioned Priyanka Chopra Jonas for playing the title role of Olympic-medal winning boxer Mary Kom in her biopic. She said that a girl from Manipur or the North East would have been a better choice to represent the sports personality.

The biopic, directed by Omung Kumar, went on to win the National Award for most popular film providing wholesome entertainment. Laishram played Bem Bem in the movie.

Laishram has walked the fashion runways of India Fashion week, New York Bridal Week and is also seen on print and TVC%u2019s in India and international.

She represented her state in Miss North East and was the first runners up in 2008 held in Shillong.

The 35-year-old  went on to participate in the reality TV show Kingfisher calendar girl. She is also the first Manipuri model who went on national television wearing a swimsuit, which led to many controversies in her hometown.

She studied at New York Stella Adler the art of acting school while she was modelling in New York City. She headed back to Bombay and spent 3 years doing theatre.

She was part of Indie film %u2018Umrika%u2019 directed by Prashant Nair  in which she played a Nepali girl opposite Prateik Babbar. Lin played the character Mema in the period romantic drama %u2018Rangoon%u2019 directed by Vishal Bhardwaj starring Kangana; Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. She also appeared in Shah Rukh Khan%u2019s film %u2018Om Shanti Om%u2019 in a cameo.
