Maya Penn, an environment activist will be carrying a custom Coach look on the Met Gala 2023 red carpet. She founded a sustainable fashion brand, Maya’s Ideas, which is focused on creating “artisan crafted, accessories and clothing made from organic, recycled, and vintage materials,” as per the brand’s official website.

According to a CNN report, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson will be playing the stylist for the look.

“These two inspiring individuals, who are redefining American fashion for now, will both be the first to wear custom looks from the new circular Coachtopia brand,” Coach said. According to its website, Coachtopia recycles and reuses materials that would otherwise go to a landfill.

Who is Maya Penn?

Maya Penn is an environmental activist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, filmmaker, eco-designer, keynote speaker, artist, animator, illustrator, writer and coder. She is the CEO of her eco-friendly fashion company Maya’s ideas. She started the company in 2008 when she was just eight years old. The company focuses on creating eco-friendly clothing and accessories.

She was born on February 10, 2000 in Atlanta, Georgia. Penn has done two official TEDTalks and one TedxTalk. She is the youngest female to do two back-to-back official TEDTalks. She is also the supporter and member of One Billion Rising and Girls Inc.
