Rapper Tory Lanez was found guilty of shooting music superstar Megan Thee Stallion in both feet in the predawn hours of July 12, 2020. 

Lanez, 30, was convicted of assault with a semi-automatic firearm; having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

Earlier this year, Megan Thee Stallion’s music video of the Cardi B song “WAP”, featuring the former, won the video of the year at Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards 2021.

Who is Megan Thee Stallion?

Born in Texas as Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, the rapper began penning her own raps at the age of 16. She went on to release her first single “Like a Stallion” in April 2016. Two years later, Megan linked was signed to record lable 1501 Certified, following which her anticipated project ‘Tina Snow’ was released and debuted at #11 on iTunes Hip.-Hop charts. 

She signed to 300 Entertainment in 2018, where she released the mixtape Fever (2019) and the extended play Suga (2020), both of which reached the top ten of the Billboard 200. At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, she became the second female rapper to win Best New Artist, after Lauryn Hill in 1999.

Earlier in the year, she won her first-ever Grammy Award in the Best Rap Performance category for her “Savage Remix” with Beyonce.

Megan Thee Stallion received several awards, including six BET Awards, five BET Hip Hop Awards, four American Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, a Billboard Women in Music Award, and three Grammy Awards. In 2020, Time named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world on their annual list.

The star has six dogs: three French bulldogs named 4oe (pronounced Four), Dos, and Oneita; a Cane Corso named X; a Pitbull named Five; and a Merle Dog named Six.
