Michael Pitt, the star of Boardwalk Empire, was taken into custody after a highly public outburst in New York City, according to TMZ on Wednesday. Pitt was then brought to a hospital.

Pitt was seen last Friday tied to a gurney and surrounded by EMS personnel, according to a video that the news outlet was able to obtain. While they waited for an ambulance, the technicians were observed pushing the gurney along a Bushwick, Brooklyn, sidewalk.

Who is Michael Pitt?

Michael Carmen Pitt, an American actor, model, and singer, was born on April 10, 1981. Pitt is 41-years-old. 

Pitt is well known for his roles in the films Murder by Numbers (2002), The Dreamers (2003), Last Days (2005), and Funny Games (2007). He is also well-known for his television roles as Henry Parker in Dawson’s Creek (1999-2000), Jimmy Darmody in Boardwalk Empire (2010-2011), and Mason Verger in Hannibal (NBC, second season) (2014).

In the 2001 movie adaptation of John Cameron Mitchell’s 1998 stage musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Pitt made his breakthrough as Tommy Gnosis, the lover of transgender rock sensation Hedwig. Pitt played Gnosis in a number of famous and frequently contentious movies, including Larry Clark’s Bully (2001), Murder by Numbers (2002), and Funny Games (a 2007 remake of Michael Haneke’s 1997 film of the same name), even if it wasn’t his first acting role.

Pitt’s major part in Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Dreamers was one of his more illustrious performances (2003).

Michael Carmen Pitt was born in West Orange, New Jersey on April 10, 1981 to auto mechanic Donald B. Pitt and waitress Eleanor Carol (née DeMaio) Pitt. He has two older brothers and two older sisters. Pitt has Italian and Irish ancestors on his mother’s side and English ancestors on his father’s. Pitt had attended three or four different high schools by the age of 16, including Morris Catholic High School.

Pitt has appeared in a number of designer campaigns. He was named the face of the Italian fashion house Prada and modelled their menswear line in 2012.

Prior to the release of his self-directed campaign, he was featured in two separate Rag & Bone campaigns—once for Fall/Winter 2013, with French actress Léa Seydoux, and once for Fall/Winter 2014, with actress Winona Ryder.

Pitt revealed in 2005 that he had been “engaged for a long time now” to model Jamie Bochert and described her as “my other half.” Their relationship ended in 2014. Pitt previously dated Asia Argento from 2003 to 2004.
