A retired Mexican singer-actor-film producer, Vincent Fernandez is also known as the idol of Mexico. He kick-started his career as a busker and went on to record over 50 albums and contribute over 30 films during the entire career span. 

Interestingly, he is also called the King of Ranchera music and has produced some famous Mexican classics as well. The mexican singer has been awarded with three Grammy Awards, eight Latin Grammy Awards, fourteen Lo Nuestro Awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Vincent retired from performing live in 2016. However, he continues to record and produce music as one of the best regional Mexican artists.

Born on 17 February, 1940, in the suburb of Huentitán El Alto in Guadalajara, Jalisco, he would often watch films of Pedro Infante with his mother and say that he would become like him. During his childhood, he grew to like the Ranch style life, so his music is mostly inspired from it. He rose to fame after the death of Javier Solís, Mexico’s most popular traditional singer, in 1966, when recording label Discos CBS offered him a recording contract. Fernandez has sold over 65 million albums so far. 

The ‘Volver, volver’ and ‘Por tu maldito amor’ recently fell at his ranch in Los Tres Potrillos, outside of Guadalajara. The fall reportedly caused spinal cord trauma, keeping him hospitalised still. The 81-year-old had a renal infection in 2012, for which he was hospitalised. He faced pulmonary thrombosis in 2013 and in March 2015, the singer had three hernias removed.

The singer also suffered a urinary tract infection in July 2021 and took to social media to inform his followers. He said, “To all the people I want to tell them to stop worrying, because it was a urinary tract infection and I am fine now. Thanks to all the friends of the press who treated me well and may God bless them.”
