Chris Ledesma, who served as the music editor of The Simpsons on every one of its first 734 episodes, has died at age 64. Ledesma died on December 16 in Los Angeles. However, no cause of death was revealed.

His death was announced in a tribute featured in Sunday’s episode. In honor of the beloved editor, a Simpsons-style drawing of Ledesma appeared as his musical talent was put on display.

Chris Ledesma’s passion for music and for @TheSimpsons was an inspiration. I’m grateful for the time I got to spend with him this year. He was a great mentor and a genuine person. My heart goes out to his family.

Who was Chris Ledesma?

Chris Ledesma, whose full name was Christopher Frederick “Chris” Ledesma, was an American music editor. He was born on January 28, 1958, and was a resident of Southern California. Ledesma became an expert in piano and trumpet at a very young age.

He attended the California Institute of the Arts and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He started his career as a music editor in a student film at the California Institute of the Arts. In 1984, he joined University Studios Hollywood as a tour guide.

He served as a music editor from seasons 1 to 33 of The Simpsons. He was replaced by Jake Schaefer in season 34 after Ledesma left the show due to health issues and subsequently his death. Ledesma has a blog, Simpsons Music 500.

Ledesma was nominated for the Golden Reel Award for the season 10 episode Wild Barts Can’t Be Broken. At The Simpsons Take the Bowl, he conducted a part of the concert dedicated to Alf Clausen and his contributions to The Simpsons.

He worked as a music editor for Segue Music, Music Design Group, and Music Works and later established his company, Click Track, Inc.

Ledesma also worked on films Pure Country, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Blast from the Past, including TV shows like Gypsy, War and Remembrance, and more.

The Simpsons is one of the longest-running animated shows. It has aired for 34 seasons with a total of 740 episodes since December 17, 1989.
