Who was Elise Finch?
Elise, also known as Elise Dione Finch Henriques, began working as a weekend meteorologist for WCBS in 2007. She stayed with the network for a remarkable 16 years. She had lately been a part of the morning news program, joining the 9 a.m. broadcast in September of the previous year.
CBS released a statement in which they expressed their profound sorrow and praised Elise as a ‘gifted and dedicated professional’ who approached her work with great care. Additionally, they emphasized her tremendous contributions to the community, notably in Mount Vernon, her hometown.
Elise had a regular spot on the network’s morning newscast with co-host Cindy Hsu. In recent years, she had co-hosted the morning news with reporters such as Chris Wragge and Mary Calvi.
When WCBS anchor Jessica Moore reported Finch’s death on-air Sunday, she was overcome with emotion. She also posted a sentimental tweet on Twitter.
“Elise was fiercely loyal to those she loved, a straight shooter, a consummate professional, and made me laugh until I cried,” Moore wrote. “But above all, she was completely devoted to her family, especially her daughter Grace. I love you so much, my friend. Heaven now has an angel like no other.”
