Oscar-Winning songwriter Burt Bacharach died at the age of 94 at his Los Angeles home of natural causes. After his death, his entire family has come into the limelight, especially his daughter Nikki Bacharach, whom he shared with his second wife and actress Angie Dickinson.

Nikki died by suicide at the age of 40, in 2007, after suffering from Asperger’s Disorder, a form of autism. she took her own life at night at her condo in Thousand Oaks, by using a plastic bag and helium to suffocate herself, Mike Feiler of the Ventura County coroner’s office, said at the time. “She quietly and peacefully committed suicide to escape the ravages to her brain brought on by Asperger’s,” the statement said.

Who was Nikki Bacharach?

Nikki was born prematurely in 1966. Her given name at the time of her birth was Lea Nikki Bacharach. She studied geology at Cal Lutheran University. However, due to poor eyesight, she could not pursue a career in the field.

She was the only child of Burt Bacharach and Dickinson, who divorced in 1981. Burt has three other children from other marriages.

After her death, the family released a statement saying Nikki “loved kitties, earthquakes, glacial calving, meteor showers, science, blue skies and sunsets, and Tahiti.”

In 2013, after his autobiography, Anyone Who Had a Heart: My Life and Music was released, Burt opened up about how hard it was for him to deal with his daughter’s suicide. “It was very tough because I had to revisit what that period was and go deeper into it,” he said at the time. He said that her Asperger’s syndrome went undetected for quite a while and they simply thought she grew up with emotional issues.

“Nobody said she’s got Asperger’s or she’s got autism. (They said) she’s just got behavior things,” he said. “It’s like the boy who cried wolf. Somebody who says, ‘I can’t stand it. The helicopters are making too much noise and the gardeners and the blowers are making too much noise and if they don’t stop I’m going to kill myself.'” And you hear that enough and you know it’s never gonna happen and then one day she just goes and kills herself.”
