Heartland fans were handed a shock on September 23, when news emerged that Robert Cormier, the actor who played the role of Finn Cotter on the popular Canadian series, died at the age of 33. The cause of death of the Canadian actor was not released.
Regarded widely for his role of Finn Cotter on Heartland, a series that has more than 10 seasons and is the longest-running one-hour drama in Canadian history, Cormier has also acted in Netflix’s Designated Survivor and CBS show Ransom.

Who is Robert Cormier?
Robert was born on June 14, 1939, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Lisa and Rob Cormier. His mother, Lisa, worked as a lab technician, while his father, Rob, ran a small business. Robert became interested in acting from an early age and later became the first person in his family to become an actor.
He graduated from Texas A&M, where he pursued a degree in Fire and Engineering Extension Services. Robert also pursued an economics degree from York University in Toronto, Canada, however, left one year before graduating. He later enrolled in the Toronto Academy of Acting for Film & Television, from where he graduated in 2014, before beginning his career as an actor.
While Cormier is known widely for his role as Finn Cotter in Heartland, he has also worked in several other series, including Designated Survivor and Ransom. Robert also acted in Slasher Solstice, a 2019 Netflix original series, where he played the role of Kit Jennings.

Robert has also worked as a supporting character in several series, including in Firecracker, where he played the role of Shane. The show premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. Apart from this, he also played the role of AI in the 2019 series The Intersection and the role of Otto in the 2018 series Pyrenees.
Apart from acting, Robert was also interested in several sports such as football, basketball, ice hockey, soccer and lacrosse.
