YG Entertainment has confirmed the departure of all current members of the boy group, iKON from the label after 7 years. The label agency announced its contract expiration with iKON members Kim Jinhwan, Bobby, Song Jun Hyeong, Kim Dong Hyuk, Koo Jun Hoe and Jung Chan Woo on Friday, December 30, 2022. 

The agency said that they reached the decision after a long and careful discussion with iKON. They have mutually agreed to end the group’s exclusive contract with respect to one another’s opinions.

The agency wrote “We would like to express sincere appreciation to iKON for being with us as YG artists. YG Entertainment will always look forward to the members’ activities in diverse fields and wish the best for them in the future.” 

Thanking all the “iKONic” members for accompanying the agency on their journey. It appealed to the audience to continue their attention and support for the boy group as they are about to start a new phase of their journey.

The South Korean boy band, iKON debuted in September 2015 with a pre-release single “My Type” under the YG Entertainment label. It was originally a seven-member band. It later turned into six after leader Kim Han-bin, popular as B.I departed from the group in June 2019.

The current members of iKON are now considering various options for their future promotions including looking for new agencies for their individual promotions or establishing their own label for group promotions.

iKON members are in talks with 143 Entertainment for signing all of them. Responding to the speculations, 143 Entertainment said, “Nothing specific has been confirmed yet. We are under discussion regarding various aspects,” reported Soompi.com.
