Meisner recently revealed the reason why he left the band. The California legends The Eagles achieved incredible momentum similar to a rocketship with their record “Hotel California” after enjoying significant success with their debut albums. Glenn Frey and Don Henley had amassed an incredible song library as they traveled the globe on tour, allowing them to fill around 75% of their set list with gold-certified classics. Not everyone in the band, though, was willing to perform the same tunes over and over again.

Randy Meisner voiced increasing annoyance with the song “Take It to the Limit,” which featured his impressive range of high notes, as the tour went on. Meisner frequently admitted in The History of The Eagles that he was anxious about singing the song because he was worried about hitting the difficult high note.

Glenn Frey approached Randy Meisner after he asked to have the song “Take It to the Limit” removed from the setlist because he was worried about the high notes. Frey stated his worry over the fact that a lot of fans were looking forward to hearing Meisner sing that particular song.

The band had ‘Take It to the Limit’ scheduled as their encore song on one of their big tour stops. Randy Meisner, however, vehemently disagreed and turned down the offer to perform the song. Security officers became involved as the situation worsened, and it became clear that Meisner would be leaving the band soon and taking one of their beloved hits with him. He left the band in 1977.
