A new defendant named Carlos De Oliveira, a maintenance worker at Mar-a-Lago, was also added to the case in a court document submitted not long before the fresh allegations. Special Counsel Jack Smith allegedly filed four fresh criminal charges against former President Donald Trump on Thursday in a case involving his alleged misuse of confidential documents.

New accusations have been filed against former president Donald Trump’s assistant Walt Nauta in addition to the ones already against him.

De Oliveira’s involvement in the court proceedings suggests that the authorities think he played a role in the suspected improper management of sensitive documents.

Who is Carlos De Oliveira?

Carlos De Oliveira is 56 years old. The Mar-a-Lago maintenance worker Carlos De Oliveira, who has been introduced as a new defendant in the case, is being prosecuted on serious charges stemming from his alleged behavior at the Florida club. He is charged specifically with purposefully draining the club’s pool in October, which led to the flooding of a chamber that housed video recording logs for monitoring. De Oliveira is accused of making false statements, falsifying documents, and conspiring to hinder the administration of justice.

According to an earlier CNN report, Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira’s conduct at Mar-a-Lago was captured on security film that was given to the Justice Department. The video showed them bringing document boxes into a storage area and transporting them around the resort. Notably, this action took place right before Trump attorney Evan Corcoran searched the same storage closet in search of secret paperwork.

The day after Justice Department representatives visited Mar-a-Lago following Corcoran’s search, Corcoran turned over 38 classified documents that he had found. However, more than 100 additional classified documents were discovered by FBI investigators in August during a search of Mar-a-Lago. Both the storage space and the previous president Trump’s office included these records.
