Oscars 2022 saw notable names like Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and Joe Alwyn absent from the night’s award show. The Academy Awards marks the culmination of the award season and is attended by Hollywood celebrities and stars.

However, Gomez most likely didn’t attend since she has not been nominated. The actor recently appeared in ‘Only Murders in the Building’, the series which is about to drop another season.

Gomez was earlier rumoured to be hosting the Oscars, but that didn’t turn out to be true. The singer-turned-actor was recently spotted in New York City, where she was dining with ‘Only Murders in the Building’ co-star Cara Delevigne.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn didn’t attend, despite appearing at CAA’s pre-Oscars party, Friday. Neither had any nominations for this year’s Oscars, but Elle noted that Swift and Alwyn would most likely attend an Oscars after-party later in the evening.

Despite dating for over five years, the two have not posed on the red carpet together.

Swift earlier explained in a Guardian interview in 2019, why she’s secretive about her relationship. The ‘Love Story’ singer noted “I’ve learned that if I do, people think it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion”, adding, “If you and I were having a glass of wine right now, we’d be talking about it—but it’s just that it goes out into the world. That’s where the boundary is, and that’s where my life has become manageable. I really want to keep it feeling manageable”.

The 94th Academy Awards had its share of moments, with a show of solidarity for Ukraine. Will Smith’s slapping Chris Rock, for a joke on the former’s wife, also overshadowed much of the event. While most of the winners were anticipated choices, including Troy Kotsur and Ariana DeBose, there were a few surprises – like ‘CODA’ walking home with Best Picture.
