South
Korean singer Chuu was removed from LOONA on Friday, November 25. Label Blockberry
Creative said Chuu was removed from LOONA due to her alleged “abuse of power,”
including her alleged abusive language towards staff.

Blockberry
Creative said in a statement: “We’re announcing our artist Chuu has been
expelled from LOONA as of November 25.”

“There were
many stories about Chuu, but the company and members of LOONA did not say
anything for a time to prevent problems concerning the development of the team
and fans. Because of LOONA’s affection of the team and fans, they tried their
best to show good performances and content rather than telling the truth,”
Blockberry Creative stated.

“We
recently investigated Chuu’s abuse of power, including abusive language toward
our staff. The company’s head is currently apologising and comforting staff. We
decided to take responsibility and remove Chuu from LOONA. We sincerely
apologise to the fans who’ve loved and supported LOONA until now and ask for
your forgiveness that the 12 members could not stay together until the end. We
and LOONA will do our best to make sure nothing like this happens in future,” the
company said.

News of Chuu
being ousted from LOONA comes at a time when there has been ample speculation
about the singer setting up her own agency last month.

Chuu joined
LOONA on December 14, 2017 as the 10th member of the group. As part
of LOONA’s pre-debut release strategy, she launched her first self-titled
single album with Heart Attack as the title track. Chuu was introduced as
member of LOONA’s third sub-unit titled Loona yyxy. The subunit includes Yves,
Govon and Olivia Hye.

Chuu’s
removal triggered a wave of reactions on social media.

Tony, a
Twitter user, wrote: “They’ll never turn me against you Queen Chuu. You
deserved better.” While another Twitter user wrote: “It’s not LOONA without
Chuu. Please.”
