A recent Twitter post by actor Manoj Joshi, known for his role as ‘Kachra Seth’ in the comedy ‘Phir Hera Pheri’, has invited criticism on the social media platform. Commenting on the COVID-19 situation and alleged dearth of doctors, the actor added a reference to Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, which didn’t go down well with many. Some users interpreted his post as Islamophobic while others asked the actor to behave responsibly in trying times like COVID-19.

It all started when Joshi took to his Twitter to post in Hindi that can be translated as, “Those who wanted an Afzal Guru to come out of each house, will they now also bring doctors?”

Afzal Guru was convicted of the 2001 Parliament attack and was executed in 2013.

A user wrote, “Even during this terrible pandemic, if you are still spreading hate and communalism, then, believe me, you are inhuman. There is no need to think so much, there are thousands of people in our country who are doctors and are doing excellent human service. For example Doctor Kafeel Khan.”
