Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar said on Sunday that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The actor took to Instagram to post a statement where he said that he is currently under home quarantine. 

Kumar said, “I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for Covid-19. Following all the protocols I have immediately isolated myself. I am under home quarantine and have sought necessary medical care.”

He added, ” I would sincerely request all those that have come in contact me get themselves tested and take care. Back in action soon!”

Kumar was shooting for his upcoming film ‘Ram Setu’ in Ayodha, according to News 18. Directed by Abhishek Sharma, the film features Nushrratt Bharuccha. Kumar plays an archeologist in the film.

Apart from ‘Ram Setu’, Kumar is also set to star in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’, Aanand L Rai’s Atrangi Re, Ranjit Tiwari’s ‘Bell Bottom’ and Farhad Samji’s ‘Bachchan Pandey’.
