For the 52nd consecutive day, single-day recoveries from COVID outnumbered new cases of coronavirus in India on Sunday. While there were 43,071 COVID-19 cases recorded across the nation on Saturday, recoveries from the infection were at 52,299. 

There is a declining trend of active cases and deaths from COVID-19 in India, the five states that continue to report the most number of infections are Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. These five states also have the most active cases of COVID-19.

As of July 4, Maharashtra has recorded 6,088,841 COVID cases, out of which it recorded 9,489 infections on Saturday. The state has currently 120,802 active COVID cases. 

After Maharashtra, Kerala has the most number of COVID cases since the outbreak. The total caseload of Kerala is 2,961,584, out of which it recorded 12,456 on Saturday. Kerala has currently 104,035 active cases.

While the daily tally of COVID-19 cases has decreased in Karnataka, it still is the state with the third most active cases of coronavirus. Karnataka on Saturday recorded 2,082 COVID-19 cases, taking the total tally of infections to 2,852,079. Meanwhile, there are currently 48,139 active cases of COVID in Karnataka. 

Tamil Nadu on Saturday recorded over 4,000 cases of COVID-19, taking the tally of infections to 2,492,420. In the number of total cases and active cases, Tamil Nadu stands at fourth as there are currently 35,881 active COVID infections in the state.

Andhra Pradesh is the fifth worse hit state by the pandemic in India. The state recorded nearly 3,000 cases on Saturday, and the tally of COVID-19 infections in Andhra Pradesh is 1,899,748. Meanwhile, there are currently 35,871 active cases of COVID-19 in the state.
