The Centre has issued a warning regarding travelling after it revealed that around 67.6% of Indians have developed antibodies against SARS-COV-2 either through infection or through vaccination in its fourth serosurvey. Though more than half of the population is immune to COVID-19 as of now the Centre has released a 7-point advisory for those who want to travel.

According to fourth serosurvey, 32% of the population is still vulnerable, so there is no room for complacency.

The government said that the local- or district-level situation might be different from the overall situation as national serosurvey is only a bird’s eye view of the overall immunity situation of the country.

States should continue to conduct local serosurvey to find out the percentage of population immune against COVID.

Some states have reported higher immunity against the deadly virus and people in some states are still vulnerable. This means there are chances of higher risk of future waves.

As cases dropped, states have started relaxing their restrictions and tourist spots are bustling with people. The government on Tuesday said non-essential travels should be discouraged.

People should avoid congregations.

The government has urged people to get both the doses of vaccine and then plan to travel

Some states have again make it mandatory to show negative RT-PCR test report for entry.

India on Tuesday reported 42,015 new COVID-19 cases and 3,998 deaths in the last 24 hours and the tally now stands at 3,12,16,337. So far, 418,480 people have died due to COVID in the country.

Active cases have fallen to 407,170 and 36,977 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.
