BTS member Suga has tested positive for COVID-19, the band’s agency, Big Hit Music, confirmed in a statement.
The 28-year-old received positive results while he was in quarantine after returning from the US. He has not come in contact with the other members of the South Korean band BTS, short for Bangtan Sonyeondan (Bulletproof Boy Scouts).
Suga is asymptomatic and had completed his second round of COVID vaccination in late August. He is currently administering self-care at home, the agency informed.
The rapper-songwriter and producer had stayed back in the US for a number of ‘personal engagements’ during BTS’ official time off. He had tested negative for the virus before travelling.

“The company places the artists’ health as our top priority, and we will do everything we can to aid SUGA in his speedy recovery. We will also diligently cooperate with the requests and guidelines of the healthcare authorities,” the statement said.
Suga had travelled to Los Angeles back in November along with his other band members, namely Jin, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, for a number of events and four sold-out stadium gigs, after which the band announced they were going on a break for the holidays to spend time with their families and to get ‘re-inspired and recharge with creative energy’.
