Over the course of the
pandemic, there have been some pretty bizarre remedies suggested by people to
keep the deadly coronavirus away. From superstitious beliefs to baseless
scientific remedies to random cures, political leaders as well as common these
theories came from, political leaders, your next-door-neighbours and on family WhatsApp
groups.

Another such theory
has emerged from India, where a man from Andhra Pradesh claimed to have a
numerolgy-based cure for COVID-19. In a banner, pictures of which have
gone viral on social media, the person claims the virus will disappear from the
world if its spelling is changed from ‘corona’ to ‘caronaa’. He also suggested
changing ‘COVID-19’ to ‘COVVIYD-19’.
“If you use the
changed spelling of CARONAA and COVVIYD-19 by affixing the same to either door
or in public places or by tying the banner in all public places, CARONAA will
be disappeared from not only from Ananthapuram dist. but also from the world.
This is a guarantee as it is divine power as per NUMEROLOGY,” SV Annandd
Rao’s advertisement banner reads.
The theory left
Twitter users in splits. Here are some reactions:
Earlier this week, a
large number of women gathered in a Gujarat village and
held a religious procession to keep COVID away. The ‘Kalash yatra’ was held in
Sanand in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district, for which 23 people were booked.
