India reported 15,906 new COVID-19 cases and 561 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per Union Health Ministry data released on Sunday After adding the new cases, India’s COVID-19 death toll is 4,54,269.
Now, India has 1,72,594 active COVID-19 cases following Sunday’s addition, which is the lowest in 234 days. Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.51%; Lowest since March 2020.
COVID-19 vaccination is concerned, India has successfully administered 1,02,10,43,258 doses under the world largest inoculation drive. Out of this figure, 77,40,676 vaccines were given in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 16,479 people recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking India’s total recovery numbers to 3,35,48,605. India’s recovery rate is currently at 98.17%, which is the highest since March 2020.
At least 13,40,158 samples were tested for coronavirus on Saturday, October 23. The country now has successfully tested 59,97,71,320 up to October 23, 2021.
The country’s weekly COVID-19 positivity rate stands at 1.23%, less than 2% for last the 30 days while the daily positivity rate is 1.19%, again less than 2% for last 20 days.

In his address, the Prime Minister is likely to congratulate all the frontline workers and citizens on the achievement and is expected to introduce the next foot forward.
