India reported 28,326 new COVID-19 cases and 260 new deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Indian Health Ministry data released on Sunday. This takes the country’s COVID tally to 3,36,52,745 cases and the related death toll to 4,46,918.

After Sunday’s addition, India now has 3,03,476 active COVID-19 cases, which comprises 0.90% of the total infections. 

In the last 24 hours, 26,032 people recovered from the infection taking India’s total recovery numbers to 3,29,02,351. India’s recovery rate on Sunday was recorded at 97.77%, the ministry said.

On the vaccination front, India has successfully administered  85,60,81,527 crores of COVID-19 vaccines under the world largest inoculation drive. Out of this figure, 68,42,786 were administered in the last 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.90%. It has been less than 3% for the last 27 days now. While the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.98%. It has been below 3% for the last 93 days, according to the ministry.

Out of 260 new fatalities, 120 deaths are from Kerala and 58 are from Maharashtra, both the states have been one of the largest contributors of coronavirus cases since the advent of the pandemic. 

A total of 4,46,918 deaths have been reported so far in the country, including 1,38,834 from Maharashtra, 37,717 from Karnataka, 35,476 from Tamil Nadu, 25,085 from Delhi, 24,438 from Kerala, 22,890 from Uttar Pradesh and 18,727 from West Bengal

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

India crossed the grim milestone of two crores on May 4 and three crores on June 23. The 282 new fatalities include 142 from Kerala and 48 from Maharashtra.
