Fans of the 90’s crime show ‘Sopranos’ had a reason to take a breath of relief as the production released got its prequel’s trailer on Tuesday. The first look of ‘The Many Saints of Newark’ will be streamed starting October 1, 2021 and will also hit theaters soon after.

Anthony ‘Tony’ Soprano, a character who is known for his combined portrayal of a father, husband and one of the top crime lords in the state of New Jersey, will be at the centre of the upcoming show.

However, the prequel will explore his early life and is likely to dive deep into his relationship with Dickie Moltisanti, who plays the role of Christopher Moltisanti’s father in the original show.

The trailer also pays a symbolic tribute to the original cast of ‘Sopranos’ as Tony’s teenage years will be played by Michael Gandolfini, the son of star James Gandolfini, who died in 2013.

The two-minute sneak peek into the upcoming drama-crime movie kicks off with the younger Gandolfini beating up a friend while the adult version of the character gives a voice-over saying “When I was a kid, guys like me were brought up to follow codes.”

The theme of the movie highlights the Newark riots in the background and will also include the tussle between the emerging gangs of the city and the DiMeo crime family.
