Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Health) on Thursday
issued directives for migrant workers returning to the state, reported news
agency ANI. The guidelines included screening
of all workers by the concerned district administration and a 14-day home
quarantine for those showing symptoms of COVID-19.

“Workers to be screened by dist administration. Those showing
symptoms, but are not infected, will be sent to 14-day home quarantine, 7-day
home quarantine for the asymptomatic ones”, ANI quoted the Additional Chief
Secretary as saying.

Those who don’t have self-isolation facilities at their homes will be kept in institutional quarantine. For this schools and other educational centres will be converted into quarantine centres.

As per the guidelines, the district administration will take names, address, phone numbers of the workers, upon their arrival at the quarantine centres.

The Yogi Adityanath government had earlier ordered district magistrates to open quarantine centres and kitchens for migrant workers returning to the state.

India on Thursday recorded 200,739 new COVID-19 cases, which pushed the total COVID-19 tally in the country to 14,074,564.
