Popular Tamil actor Pandu, known for his comic acting, died on Thursday due to COVID-19 related complications. He and his wife Kumudha had tested positive for the virus recently and were admitted to a private hospital. The actor was 74.
Pandu gained popularity after playing a cameo role along with Ajith Kumar in %u2018Kadhal Kottai%u2019 released in 1996. The film was a huge box office hit and established him as an actor. He was recently seen in ‘Itly’ alongside Kovai Sarala and Urvashi. His other remarkable roles include Vijay%u2019s blockbuster film, %u2018Ghilli%u2019 in which he played the role of a cop.
Pandu, who made his screen debut in the 1970s, worked with leading names of the southern film industry including MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Kamal Haasan, and Rajinikanth.

His brother, Idichapuli Selvaraj, was also a well-known comedian in the industry.
Being a painter before venturing into the film industry, it is also said that Pandu had designed the iconic flag of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) and Tamil Nadu tourism logo.
