In a tragic incident reported
from Madhya Pardesh’s Sagar, a 12-year-old boy allegedly died by
hanging himself on being denied permission to play a mobile game, confirmed
additional superintendent of police (ASP) Vikram Singh on Monday.

According
to deceased’s parents, the child was addicted to a game called ‘Free Fire’
following which his cell phone was confiscated by his family on Monday.

The
boy’s father, Sitaram Patel, who is a street food vendor, also admitted
reprimanding him for the same on several occasions.

As
per the police officials, the child used a towel to hang himself in a room at
his home, while his mother was cooking in another room.

The
boy’s father, on the other hand, blamed such mobile games for impacting
children’s mind and appealed that the government should ban such games.

“My
child got depressed whenever we stopped him from playing the game. I don’t want
such an incident to happen again. I request the government to ban such
games,” Patel said.

Meanwhile,
a case has been registered in this regard and further probe is underway, the
ASP said.
