Seven people including a DMK MLA’s son and daughter-in-law were killed in a severe car crash in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The accident took place after an Audi Q3 car rammed an electric pole dashed against the wall of a nearby building near Mangala Kalyanamantappa resulting in seven deaths.

Among the dead were three women, DMK MLA’s son Y Prakash and his wife Dr Bindu, daughter-in-law of MLA Prakash, Karuna.

Other deceased were identified as Ishita, Sagar, Dr Dhanusha, Akshay Goyal, Utsav and Rohith. 

Six of the seven people inside the car died on the spot while the last person succumbed to death on his way to St John’s Hospital in Bengaluru.

According to the Audugodi police, the cause of the accident was that the airbags of the vehicle did not open at the time of the crash, which led to severe injuries.

Initial police investigation reports noted that the Audi car, that was crashed in the accident, belonged to an MLA from Tamil Nadu. Reports also stated that Karuna Sagar, son of a politician from Hosur, also died in the accident.

As per Times Now, the vehicle is registered in the name of Sanjeevini Blue Metal Company.

“The accident has taken place due to negligent and rash driving. An investigation will be conducted by a team headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) into the incident.”

According to the police, the accident took place at 1.45 am on Tuesday and the seven deceased were travelling late at night in vehicle. The car, as per police, was speeding when it crashed into a light pole in the Koramangala area.

The police said none of the passengers was wearing a seat belt and the airbags did not deploy on impact in the car, which bears a VIP number plate, reported The News Minute.
