Congress leader Sachin Pilot, who rebelled against the party for a  month, said that he will act in the “interest of the people of Rajasthan.”

Taking to Twitter after meeting Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, he wrote, “Today took part in the meeting of the Legislative Party with fellow MLAs including Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot ji, organization general secretary KC Venugopal ji, in-charge Avinash Pandey ji, state president Govind Singh Dotasara ji. We are determined to act in the interest of the people of Rajasthan and in accordance with the promises made.”

Pilot met state chief minister Ashok Gehlot, ahead of the beginning of a special assembly session on Thursday evening. The Congress has announced to ask for a trust vote.

Before the Congress’ announcement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had said it would call a no-confidence motion in the assembly.

If the Speaker accepts the motion, the House is likely to go through a floor-test, for which Gehlot seems to have a majority after Sachin Pilot’s ‘ghar-waapsi’.

Earlier this week, Pilot made truce with the party leadership and returned with all the 18 MLAs from his camp.

He came face-to-face with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday evening, at Congress’ Legislative Party meeting at the latter’s residence.

After Pilot’s return, Gelot said on Wednesday that resentment among the Congress MLAs is “natural” after the return of dissident legislators to the party-fold, but asked them to forgive, forget and move on.

Pilot had rebelled against Gehlot last month and walked out with 18 other Congress MLAs. He was then sacked as deputy chief minister and the party’s Rajasthan chief. What followed was an action-filled month of notices, court hearings, dharnas and sting operations.

The crisis appears to have been averted, for now, with the intervention of Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi who met Pilot earlier this week.
