AINRC chief N Rangasamy took oath as Puducherry Chief Minister at a brief ceremony on Friday.

Rangasamy, who is heading an NDA dispensation that has BJP too, was inducted by Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on the precincts of Rajnivas.

According to party sources, the swearing in of other ministers, including those from BJP will take place in the next few days.

In April 6 elections, the AINRC won 10 seats out of 16 it contested, while its ally, BJP won six out of nine seats it contested, thus, having a total of 16.

The total strength of the Assembly is 30 and sixteen is the magic number for the formation of a ministry.

The DMK has emerged victorious from six segments out of 13 seats it contested.

The Congress fared poorly by annexing only two out of the 14 seats it contested.
