An Air Arabia flight with 222 passengers and seven crew members on board landed safely at the Kochi airport on Friday night following hydraulic failure, the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) said in a statement. 

The Air Arabia G9- 426 from Sharjah to Kochi was supposed to land at 7.13 pm on Friday. The aircraft, however, reported a hydraulic failure following which arrangements were made for an emergency landing. The plane landed safely on runway 09 at 7.29 pm.

“The Air Arabia Airbus A321 aircraft (A6-ATB) while operating as G9-426, to Kochi was involved in hydraulic failure. It landed safely on runway 09 and shut down the engine. The aircraft was then towed to the parking bay,” a senior official said, the Times of India reported. 

The full emergency was withdrawn at 8.22 hrs.

CIAL said all passengers and crew on board the flight were safe. 

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is investigating the incident.
