Anrich Nortje has tested positive for the coronavirus, ANI reported. According to sources quoted by the agency, the Delhi Capitals‘ South African pacer arrived in India with a negative test report but tested positive for the virus while undergoing quarantine.

Nortje missed the Capitals’ opening encounter in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Along with his national and IPL teammate Kagiso Rabada, Nortje was involved in the first two of South Africa’s One Day International (ODI) matches against Pakistan.

Nortje, 27, enjoyed a spectacular debut in the IPL last year, forging a formidable pace partnership with national teammate Rabada. Nortje finished IPL 2020 with 22 wickets from 16 matches while Rabada went on to win the Purple Cap with 30 wickets from 17 matches. 

Nortje also bowled the fastest delivery in IPL history last year, bowling at a searing 156.22 kmph during a match against the Rajasthan Royals.
