Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc was on Sunday ruled out of the squad for the remaining two games of the Twenty20 series with India, AFP reported. He has left the Australian camp with the blessing of coach Justin Langer after being informed of an unspecified family illness.
“We will give Mitch all the time he needs and welcome him back into the squad with open arms whenever he feels the time is right for him and his family,” said Langer, AFP reported.
Starc’s withdrawal would be another blow for the Australian side, after opening batsman David Warner and spinner Ashton Agar were ruled out over injuries. Also, pace spearhead Pat Cummins is being rested.
To replace them, batsman D’Arcy Short and spinners Mitch Swepson and Nathan Lyon have been added to the squad.
India claimed victory in the first T20I match on Friday by 11 runs. The match was played in the capital Canberra.
