The Bharatiya Janata Party will contest 20 of the 234 Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu in an alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), reported ANI. The party will also contest in the by-election for the Kanyakumari seat.

The AIADMK too released its first list of candidates for six seats.
AIADMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will contest from the Edappadi constituency and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam will contest from Bodinayakanur.

Tamil Nadu Assembly polls will be held in a single phase on April 6. Votes will be counted on May 2.
