A minor blast occurred outside the Israel embassy in New Delhi on Friday, PTI quoted the Delhi Police as saying. Some cars have been damaged in the blast.

All airports, important installations and government buildings are on high alert following the blast, with security measures at those places having been beefed up, ANI quoted the Central Industrial Security Force as saying.

The Delhi Police said that a very low-intensity improvised device went off at 5.05 pm near APJ Abdul Kalam road near Jindal house.

The blast did not cause any injuries or damage to property, except blowing out the window panes of three cars, with the Delhi Police’s initial impressions suggesting it was a “mischievous attempt to create a sensation”.

“The improvised device was found in a flower pot on road divider near Jindal House, Delhi. It appears that it was thrown from a moving vehicle,” the police said.

“We received a call at around 5:45 pm regarding blast after which we reached the spot. No injuries have been reported in the incident,” Fire officer Prem Lal told ANI.

Israel is treating the blast as a terrorist incident, Reuters reported quoting an Israeli official.
