After a massive Rs 75-crore opening day collection at the box office, the Ranbir-Alia starter Brahmastra: Part One Shiva bagged an even better Rs 85 crore on its second day. According to Cinema Express, the box office collection of the film saw a 13% rise on its 2nd day, taking the total collection to an impressive 160 crores.
The film also managed to do well in the Indian market with a business of nearly Rs 38.5 crore on the second day alone. Made with a budget of Rs 450 crore, there were concerns over the success of the film, especially with several big-budget Hindi films tanking at the box office recently.

This is a welcome trend for the film industry, as like other films there were also calls on social media to boycott Brahmastra: Part One Shiva. The calls for boycotting came after Ranbir Kapoor’s controversial comments about beef. However, in spite of it, the film has had a good start at the box office.
Producer Karan Johar was pleased with the film’s performance and made his feelings known after the day one collection figures went public.
After the film’s release on Friday, rumours started spreading that its poor reviews have led to a dip in share prices for cinema chains Inox and PVR. The reports, which were later proved to be fake, claimed that PVR had suffered losses worth more than Rs 940 crore. However, the PVR CEO later clarified in a tweet that PVR cinemas did business worth Rs 8.18 crore from Brahmastra.

The film was made with a record-breaking budget that no other Indian film has ever touched. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, the film also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Mouni Roy.
With the momentum that it has gathered at the box office, what remains to be seen is how soon it can recover the cost of making it.
