Delhi Capitals‘ co-owner Parth Jindal on
Thursday expressed his support for the team’s captain Shreyas Iyer, who
injured his shoulder during a match recently. Iyer dislocated his
shoulder in the first ODI against England in Pune’s MCA stadium on Tuesday and was ruled out from of the series. According to BCCI sources, Iyer’s participation is doubtful in the first half of IPL 2021 as well.

“Absolutely devastated and gutted for our skipper ShreyasIyer15 – stay strong captain – hope for a very quick recovery. Have full faith that you will come back even stronger from this. India needs you in the T20 World Cup,” Jindal tweeted.

The injury occurred in the eighth over of the England innings when Shreyas dived on a drive hit by Jonny Bairstow off pacer Shardul Thakur. The 26-year old was seen in tremendous pain as he was taken out of the field.

As per reports, Iyer is likely to undergo a  surgery on the shoulder which has been injured thrice since last IPL. 

However, BCCI and Delhi Capitals have not yet released any official statement on Iyer’s IPL participation or how long the right-handed top-order batsman will be away.

The 14th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin on April 9 in Chennai and the opening encounter will be held between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The tournament will conclude at the newly-built Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 30.
