The current wave of the coronavirus pandemic is wreaking havoc across India with state governments struggling to meet the growing demand for hospital beds, medicines and oxygen supply. Amid complaints that beds and medicines were in short supply, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday, “there is no shortage of beds in hospitals in Delhi. According to the latest data, more than 5,000 beds are available.”

After Kejriwal’s directive on Monday, the state health department had added 2,653 beds for COVID-19 patients, taking the total count of the hospital beds to more than 15,000* (vacant and occupied included).

Apart from this, Department Of Health And Family Welfare also put up a list of hospitals and the number of beds available. The official website has the contact of the hospital, contact of the person and number for the liaison officer.  

According to the information available on delhifightscorona.in, the total number of beds in the hospitals stands at 15,293. Out of which 10,523 are occupied and 4,770 are vacant.

Here is the list of bed availability as on Thursday:

– Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, Dilshad Garden has 308 vacant beds.

– Sir Ganga Ram City Hospital, Rajinder Nagar has 65 vacant beds.

– AIIMS, Trauma Delhi has 53 vacant beds.

– Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Okhla has 26 vacant beds.

– Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital has 25 vacant beds.

– Max East/West Block, Saket has 12 vacant beds.

To counter the rapid inflow of patients, the Delhi government recently announced that 14 private and 6 government hospitals had been converted into a dedicated COVID-19 centre.
