According to
the Panchang, the festival of Diwali is celebrated on the new moon day of
Krishna Paksha of Kartik month.  In 2021, the date of Kartik Amavasya is on Thursday, November 4.

festival of Diwali.  It is believed that

How Is Diwali Celebrated?

During
Diwali, people clean their houses, replace old furniture and curtains, sheets,
utensils and make new and refreshing environment. Many decorate house with
lights, lamps, candles, toran, rangoli and more. In fact, if you look around,
you will find that all the houses are bright and shining during this time of
year because Diwali is a festival of lights.

Foods play a
significant role during Diwali most of us prepare a variety of delicious meals and
organize family dinners, parties and more.

Importance of Laxmi Poojan

On Diwali,
worship of Lakshmi ji should be done in an auspicious time.  This year Diwali festival is Pradoshyukt
Amavasya Tithi and stable Lagna and stable Navamsa.  According to the scriptures, worshiping
Lakshmi ji in these Muhurta is considered auspicious.  After bathing on this day, wearing new
clothes and worshiping should be done with full devotion.  After worship, Lakshmi ji’s aarti and mantras
should be chanted.
