Diwali, the festival of lights, will be observed on October 24th, 2022 this year. It is a five day long celebration starting with Dhanteras and ending with Bhai Dooj. This festival is celebrated every year on Kartik Amavasya.

Samosa 

Samosa is an ideal snack for this joyous occasion. Samosa is a deep fried snack that can be easily prepared at home and the stuffings are made with potatoes, herbs and spices. Samosa is a very popular dish all over India and can also be used to serve guests during any festivities

Potato Fritters 

Potato Fritters is a quick-to-go recipe and is mostly enjoyed by people from all age groups. This can be served with salad and white sauce and it forms a perfect starter. 

Paneer Tikka 

It’s a famous Indian appetizer where pieces of Indian cottage cheese(paneer) are marinated with yogurt and then grilled. It is a starter that can be prepared at home and provides both flavor and nutrition.

Main Course 

Navratan Dal 

As the name suggests it is a lentil-based recipe prepared using nine different kinds of dals and it is seasoned with ghee, cinnamon, cumin seeds, onion and green chili to add flavor. 

Dum Aloo

It is a very simple dish that can be prepared within a shorter period. This dish is a part of traditional Kashmiri cuisine but it is also a popular vegetarian dish throughout India

Kulcha Naan 

It is an Indian flatbread that can be eaten along with curries. 

Desserts

Malai Rabdi

It is a sweet dish flavored with cardamom, saffron and dry fruits. It is a  simple sweet dish that can be prepared at home. 

Coconut barfi

 It is a special dish that requires time and effort. It can be made at home by shredding coconut and adding sugar and cream to it. The ingredients have to be stirred well on a low flame in a pan and further, it should be cooled by keeping it in the refrigerator. 

Kheer

Also referred to as the Indian pudding, it is the ideal dessert that can be prepared for any festival at home. It is usually made by boiling rice with milk, sugar or jaggery.
